Default Help needed on 3184 Cub

Hello all ,
I have a problem with a Cub 3000 series and maybe you fine folks can give me some ideas on where to look . I've owned this tractor for about 5 years now. It always performs like a champ, until recently. I went out and tried to start it - it will fire up and shut right off, or might run for a few seconds with the choke closed , then shuts off .
Things i have done to try and remedy
* New fuel line carb to gas tank ( new fuel filter )
* New plugs
* New gas in tank

I see the fuel is laying about level in the fuel filter. Does anyone think I should try a new fuel pump? Thanks in advance.

Jim

just came back in , tried going directly in carb with a syringe . it would run until i stop squirting then quit running . what does this mean is my problem the fuel shut off ? if it has a single wire going to it - it looks rather hard to get at to take off to clean /replace . I have the entire air cleaner assembly off at the moment

Try to find ethanol free gas and put some Sea-Foam in it. It will help clean up the deposits from the crappy gas.

I had a solenoid stick a couple years ago on a CH 18. Took it off and shot some brake cleaner in it and in the receiving end of the carb. Been working right ever since. You should be able to feel/hear that thing click when you cycle the key on/off. If it clicks, it's likely working but the passage that pin shoots into can get dirty and still shut you down.

I have found that E 10 gasoline is actually a pretty good solvent and keeps the fuel systems clean as long as you keep the water out of it. Water in E 10 can form a corrosive sludge and can stop up/eat up your carburetor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
