1811 paint and fix up
I picked up a 1811 back in the fall for $600 Canadian. Compared to my worn out mtd gold this old girl is a beast. Mows nice and drives great. Kohler magnum 18 purrs. Very happy with my first cub
It shows it's age in the looks department needs a new seat and I'm thinking I want to paint it up. I'm trying to keep the cost down a bit.. any recommendations on what paint to use? I can shoot it with a spraygun. Or Do I just use cub spraycans? I'm not trying to go for perfect showroom finish, just clean it up make it look halfway decent and protect the metal. Is there any tremclad or rustoleum paints that match close? Thanks |

Rust-oleum Almond is very close to IH 935 white and Rust-oleum Marigold is very close to Cub Cadet yellow (759-3263)
I will say, be warned there is nothing like an OEM paint with hardener, the rattle cans just don't last. Cub spray cans around here run $23 each! Good luck and congrats on your 1811!! I have a 1980 784, essentially the dual hydro (earlier) version of the 1811, its a great machine. I'm working on fitting a 450 blower to it now for the winter.

Congrats on the 1811. Love the m-18. They sound so cool.
I am pretty much a utility guy with my stuff as well so just want them to look decent and run great. Have painted quite a few of my older Cubs with IRONGAURD in Federal Yellow for color and had great luck. My only newer Cub, 1862 I did with School Bus Yellow and it was fine. But I can't remember who makes that color. Might have just been ACE. Part of my good luck with these paints is that the only time the Cubs are outside is when in use. Good Luck Ken |

Thanks guys, I'll see what I can find. I know it might not be as durable as a oem with hardener but it will still clean up up quite a bit.
I'll probably go out later to today see what paints look close. Most stores here don't have a big selection of rust oleum up here in canada as we mostly have tremclad. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
