Default HDS 2145 mowes in reverse

Noticed yesterday mower was mowing in reverse even when pto switch was pushed in.

After about one minute blades would stop turning.

Hope is relay, but any suggestions on fixing problem is appreciated

Thanks,

John

It mows in reverse when the PTO is on? Or when the PTO is off? If all you are saying is the PTO does not cut off in reverse like the safety system is designed to do, I'd say congratulations. Don't worry about it.

HEHE!!!

Most people take the time to bypass that safety! Your tractor did it on its own.. Jon is right.. Congrats!

Mowed in reverse with pto switch pushed in. Blades will stop turning after about one minute

Have concern pto will not work at worst moment

I don't know what "pushed in" means. Was the PTO on or off. Answer it like that.
You mow backwards for 1 min? Or when you go forward again, they cut out a minute later after backing up?

I think I understand what you are saying.. Sort of. Your tractor normally would cut off the PTO when you shift from froward to reverse. Now, You goto reverse and the pto stays engaged and running for up to a min before the connection gets interrupted by the safety. Are you also saying that if you turn off the pto with the pto switch that it stills stays engaged for up to a min?

If its when you shift forward to reverse, It could be that the switch is hanging up for the reverse pedal.

If the PTO is off and blades keep turning, it is either a bad PTO switch, or a shorted wire from the switch to the PTO. I looked at the diagram, and the wires run from the switch directly to the PTO. If the switch is "off" then the PTO should be off no matter what.

He said before they do this for a min then stop... still dont know if hes saying the PTO turns off but blades dont come to a rest for a min.. like has no brake to stop blades. Or can the op verify he is still powering PTO with switch in off position

I really need replies from the OP, not you, to help him find a solution. I can read what he wrote just fine, thanks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
