Starter pulley on 122
I’m trying to figure out if I can purchase a standard pulley from eBay or amazon to replace the clutch basket pulley. I’m not going to be using it for pto work anymore and I mangled mine removing it. There are several 1” bore by 7” pulleys but I’m worried about the groove profile. If anybody has any insight or a link to help me out that’d be outstanding! TIA

You will need one with a collar attached to it or weld a collar on that has a key and set screw. I think the belt is 3/8"

If you buy a molded zinc pulley, expect it to last a week,,
most such pulleys are intended for 400 RPM service,, not spinning a generator at 8,000 rpm,,, |

But Cad... If you spend money on a good pulley that will hold up, Won't you be spending as much as you would on a new PTO basket?? LOL

Yes, and there used to be thousands. I was surprised to see the prices that an eBay search yielded for what a few years ago was a fifteen dollar item.
A not so wise co-worker once said to me, "What's rare is expensive, what's easy to get isn't so hard to come by". Ya scratch yer head, and then it makes sense. |

I think we're past the "great part out" days. This stuff is finite and will get more expensive.

It seems like you can't buy anything for a NF cub cadet for any less than $100 anymore.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
