Default Johnson #14 loader pallet fork build thread

I have been collecting steel and ambition to do this project for a few weeks, yesterday I finally had time to get started. I took a few pics along the way. As of today I have the complete fork frame done and the forks themselves done as well as the loader mounts. Next is to marry the forks and mounts. That's tomorrow hopefully. Still lots of work to do but here is my progress so far

Thanks guys. Got more pics today. They are mostly complete. Just gotta cap the ends of the frame and finish welding the mount to the frame. I decided to bolt the loader mounts to the frame rather than weld them. That way I can take them off if I need to. after all this welding, adding steel and bracing and welding and all that, these forks are still lighter than the bucket so i still have full lifting capacity! the forks themselves are made from 3"X 1 1/2" X 1/4" rec. tube and the main frame is 3"X 1 1/2" X 1/8" rec tube so the forks weigh more than the frame does. im extremely pleased with how its turning out! gotta secure the slide bar next, then make the roll back cage on the top, then Paint!

Here are some more pics

very nice work, im actually in the process of building forks for my kwik-way loader. i used an old dozer cutting edge for the forks. mainly because cutting edges are hardened steel. now lets see some paint!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
