Default Picture of the Week for April 25, 2011

Cub Cadet 149 modified with a K341 and exhaust stack.

Owner: Joe (drysumpjet)
Location: Virginia

Back story:

A friend of mine borrowed one of my Cubs to do some grading work and as a joke, sent me this photo-shopped paintwork of what he did to it.

Had me concerned for a while and I had to run over to check it out! The detailed "staging" of this picture had me convinced they really went thru making it "green" which was most upsetting. After confirming the tractor was still yellow and white, a second look at the picture I noticed there was lack of green "overspray"! Good thing!

This tractor is described in detail the Customized Cub Cadet Forum in the thread titled "Stack Pictures".

I love how fun you friends are. A good sense of humor is hard to find in a buddy these days.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
