2016 XT1 Enduro Series 50" dies shortly after engaging blades
Hello, all!
I'm new here, but have been reading a lot on these forums. Good info, for sure. Here's what I have: Cub Cadet XT1 Enduro Series w/ 50 inch deck (model 13AQA1CQ056) Engine: Kohler PS-KT735-3058 What I've done: New Fuel New gas cap New fuel filter New fuel pump and fuel lines New carb. New ignition modules New air filter New Spark Plugs New oil filter w/ oil change New Battery Also new Spindles, Blades and deck belt. It runs fine without load, but once I engage PTO (electric) I can mow for a short distance before it dies. It is tough to restart right away, but after a minute, I can start it and drive it back to the garage. It may or may not die while driving it back to the garage. Inconsistent. This was happening before I swapped out all the stuff above. I can mow for a minute or so longer now than before I changed everything out, but still having the same problem. Please help. I don't know what else to do, other than lower the mower onto my head to put an end to it all. (kidding, but seriously. I'm at a loss here.) Thanks! -Scott |

I have seen clogged gas cap vent holes cause this condition, but since you have a new one you might try mowing with it loose and see what happens.

I would check that you routed the belt correctly after putting spindles in it. Or you could have a bad idler pulley on deck

Just a guess as I know nuttin about the new stuff.
Do you have good fuel flow to the carb or is it fool injection? could be starving for fuel. Does it run if you dribble fuel into the carb intake while pto is operating? worth a check, you have thrown a lot of parts @ it so far! |

How would either of these situations make it not want to re-start after it craps out?

I went that route because he also stated it ran fine except for after engaging pto. By runs fine I assume that means runs and drives fine other than when pto is engaged. So that wouldn't really explain a clogged gas cap either. Of course theres not a whole lot of info to go on here either.
I guess we need to ask. Does it run and drive fine with full power and ONLY has this problem after pto engagement? Maybe the PTO is jamming up and staying engaged making it hard to crank

The clogged gas cap vent scenario I exampled did run fine until started mowing. I guess the extra load of mowing draws more gas. Really didn't discover it until I took the fuel line off after it quit and nothing came out. Took the cap off to check the tank and gas came out all over the place. It also would not start right away, but would start easily after 2-4 minutes.

Thank you all for chiming in.
Took the gas cap off, but it died after blades were engaged for a minute or two. (Yeah, no trouble driving. Only issues happened when trying to mow.) Belt is on correctly and all pulleys and wheels are good to go. So, I had thought, as it really sounded fuel related the whole time. I disconnected the new fuel line from the fuel filter, and blew compressed air up into the tank. I was able to mow for about 20 minutes before it wanted to die on me again. I think there was some debris in that little spigot the fuel line connects to on the fuel tank. Enough fuel was getting out to allow the engine to run, but not enough to handle a load. I'm going to pull the tank and clean it out, and I'm betting Ill be good to go. Maybe?? |
