Monsanto Roundup

A friend and neighbor who is a farmer, dropped off a gallon of Monsanto's Roundup for me to do some weed control. The container was a generic 2 Gallon plastic jug. I assume he poured some out of his 5 gallon pails

After doing some research, I am finding it a bit confusing on all the types and formulas for this product.

With the above information, what would be the correct mix formula (or ratio) based upon the formula version, of what the average farmer buys...??? I am seeing mixture ratios all over the place.

I use 2 oz. per gallon.

He says he usually recommends 4oz per gallon..To make sure it's dead.

I buy round-up by the 275 gallon shuttle (bought it for 7.50 a gallon). The rate is 24-48 ounce per acre. I spray at a water rate of 15 gallons per acre. So 2-3 once per gallon would get the job done. But round-up is cheap don't skimp and mix it strong as you are there to kill the plant and only want to spray once.

Roundup will work some at any mix rate.

The only difference is not wasting money, since it was free, that is not a concern.

To determine the correct mix rate, you need to know the % strength of the product.

10% strength Roundup needs 5 times as much Roundup as 50% Roundup.

I use a generic round up daily. Also licensed to apply, most weeds on the label do not call for more than 3 oz. to the gallon. Adding more does not make the chemical work better, sometimes it has the opposit effect. Adding a surfactant or dish washinf liquid will help it work beter.
