This belongs to my brother and is his second original. As far as I know it is only missing the starter/generator and the deck. He plans to fix it up but I though I would share it with everyone. He bought it off a consignment auction so I don't know a lot about it. Can anyone tell me more about it? Year it was made or if the motor is original? I could see the wiring looks to be all there and still has the cloth covering on most of it. Not bad for being that old.

By the ser Nr I believe it was made in Sep of 62. I suspect the engine is not the original one.

K181 makes it a 8 horse so it was replaced at some point and they left the dry air filter instead of the oil bath.

I have two OCC's and love the originals. They are neat when restored, but no harm in repainting and fixing up just what you have. They were made to work and will still get it done!

As others have said their info is correct. Later serial, engine transplant but not a big deal, tires front and rear are original, missing metal tube from sediment bowl to carb, small stuff really. It's got good bones, get it running. Good score, sounds like you need it as your brother already has one

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
