Default 104 new puller

Well its time to build a cub puller for my 9 yr old. I have restored many cubs but never built a puller. I have a 104 that we want to use. Nothing crazy. Just for him to learn and have fun!? Any tips. Advice would be great. Our club uses a dead weight steel sled with weight added as needed. Whats the largest rear tires i can fit?

I’m still very much in the learning stage, but I think most of you questions could be answered by your clubs rules.

I run 23x10.5-12 tire, but that’s the biggest my class allows. You’ll probably need wheelie bars. You’ll want to get as much weight as your class allows and figure outplacement to balance the tractor. You’ll want an adjustable hitch to run the highest height that your class allows. I would think you’d want to freshen up the clutch to be sure it doesn’t slip. As well as a fresh tuneup on the engine to ensure it’s running properly. Even guys with 10hp seem to pull well enough in my beginner class. Making the most of the power you have is key.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
