Default 782 hydraulics slow (or not at all)

Pushing snow this eve. My 782 started acting up and wouldnt lift the blade, or if it did it went verrrry slow (went down quickly). It is dual hydraulic and at the same time tilt right went normal (quickly), and tilt left went sloooow.

I figured you guys would know exactly where to look. One possibility is the spool valve is too high/low and not opening up the spool as it should. The handle feels decent though (feels as if centered when at rest)

I did notice one of the hydro pressure relief valves was leaking. Maybe the left one if sitting on the tractor facing forward.

Hard to suspect the lift ram since it happens both on tilt left, and lift (or maybe a coincidence and separate issues).

Checked the hydro oil and its fine. Forward/reverse work fine. The filter is reasonably new although I am not above changing it.

Completely stock configuration.

Anyone wager a guess?

(and why do they always act up during the biggest storm of the year... so far)

I am willing to bet that the Hyd valve needs to be adjusted to center the levers in the slot in the dash. I have had them slide.

This is my suggestion:

(A) Add hydraulic fluid to proper level.
(B) Change the Hydraulic Filter - if needed
(C) Replace the leaking relief valve(s).

I think I am going to do all of the above. (the filter/fluid will do last, since its pretty recently changed and topped off).

Will start with the spool valve position. If it slid up that would do it, and I have to check but it may be both levers were misbehaving when pulled down in the same direction. This would mean the valve wouldnt open enough. It seemed centered at rest, but might not take much so a good place to check.

And need to change that hydro valve anyway, leaks are annoying and this one has them although its all new seals/gaskets (which makes it even more annoying when it leaks).

Will have a chance to take a look this weekend (hopefully before the next storm hits!)

I have noticed on my 1450, the actual spool valve shaft sometimes gets sticky and hard to move. I spray some PB Blaster on that shaft, work it back and forth, and it frees it up.

This. It slipped up the shaft a bit. Loose, bump it down a bit, re-tighten, works great now.

Simple enough.

Glad it was a simple fix for you. I have had it happen to me so that is why I suggested it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
