My 1650 is leaking!
This is my go to tractor for cutting grass. I bought this in 2015 and have used the hell out of it. But, alas it is a 1978 model and after 41 years an oil leak is not unexpected. Sooooo, in my two minutes of spare time I yanked the engine, washed it and dug in. The flywheel is tighter than tight and will not come loose...I will be successful. I keep upgraded cradle frames on hand ready for install. I will be using Cub Cadet ISO mounts rather than the solid ones. The drive line will be refreshed as needed. Also, before I forget, I bought a new Xtreme PTO clutch for it and can't wait to use this beast again. Now for the pics.

The flywheel yielded to my gentle persuasion
 . Inspected the seal but it was not leaking. Removed the stator and bearing plate and found the shim gaskets had failed. I replaced the gaskets, seal and oil pan gasket. Pulled the cylinder head and found the usual stuff and decided to do a valve job too. All went well until the PTO clutch. Bought this from CCSpecialties and went to install it. Oh Snap! Correct part number, wrong part in box. Oh well shit happens. It does not fit appears to be for an 82 series. Called Charlie and got the situation handled....new one is on the way! The Xtreme clutch looks like a fantastic one ...very well designed and built...looking forward to the correct one. The saga continues. Pics or it didn't happen.
