Default 70 key switch

Found some conflicting data on key switches for a Model 70. Mine has a toggle switch in the appropriate key switch hole. Go to Cub website. Type in "70 &". Find Engine Controls and Instrument panel heading. Get the part number of IH- 403562-R2. Then there is another one for a tractor with a retractable starter. My 70 has the big starter/generator with the belt to the crank pulley. But then go to the heading of "Safety starting switch- Trctrs W/electric starters" and get a different part number IH-382458-R1. I want an original style switch. Just trying to figure out what it is supposed to have.

Option B. You could leave the wires hanging through the hole and just twist them together when you want to start it.

There's no conflicting information on the site. You need item 5, part number IH-403562-R2. The retractable starter is a pull-start (retractable cord). The other part number you listed is for item 6, which is just the key. Finally, if you need a new push-button, that would be item 7.

Close John.... but the wrong one for a 70. The listing of tractors it fits is wrong. That ignition switch has a start position.

He needs this one for a 70.

Don't be afraid of Steiner. They are quality parts. Way cheaper than CCC or IH.

That's the set of and parts list for tractors with a neutral safety start switch. Does your tractor have one?

Honestly, I have never seen (on here or in the real world) a 70 or 100 with one....

That's for if you have the safety starting switch. You have the key w/ push button. So go with the part I gave you in my first post.

No, he doesn't have that. His pictures show the push button start, so he doesn't have the safety switch setup.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
