belt question...
I have a 42" deck on my 100. I took the deck off as I want to clean it and prepare it for painting. It's worked well the times I've used it for mowing, but the belt is really ratty and I'd like to get another before i put it all back together.
So... is there a resource on the site here that can give me original part #s for belts and such? Or maybe one of you fine folks knows off hand what kind of belt i need? This is the drive belt that runs off the motor and through the... 'mule' assembly? Is that even the right terminology? If not, mark it up to Noobism. You guys know the belt i mean... Thanks in advance for any help.

I guess it's not quite that simple because I looked it up on the Cub Cadet web site and it looks like it depends on what kind of mule drive you have, bolt on or quick attach. Here are some screenshots:
I don't have a 100 so hopefully those who have one will chime in. Oh yeah and here's how I got to the parts lookup for those who are not familiar with it: |

Basically the Cub Cadet website says that if you have the bolt on mule drive you need belt IH-473462-R4 and if you have the quick attach mule drive you need belt IH-490489-R2.
By the way I just ordered a couple belts from Cub Cadet a few weeks ago and they shipped them to me with no sales tax or shipping charge. |

The 100 will have a "Bolt On" Mule drive.

Go with the chart: 3/8 x 81"
That's what I use on my 100 and also my 124 for the PTO belt. Use the cub belts, They are worth it!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
