QA-42A paint question
Hey all,
I've read here several places that slick, graphite paint in the thrower chute is a good idea on an older snowthrower. Should I paint the inner housing and/or auger also with the graphite? Thanks to all on this site, what a great resource.

I've one to do to. And if I can get my hands on the paint, I plan on doing all you mentioned. Just makes sense to me.

My chute is bare metal, no problem throwing any type of snow, and we got some of the wettest snow I've seen in 50 years, last week.
You just have to have enough power and rpm's If you lack either power or rpm's, a slippery paint would help some. |

what is this "graphite" paint? never heard of it.
OK, never mind, google says it's called EasySlide. Avail in quarts, gallons and spray cans.... Except it's "Black" that's a problem.

Yeah hopefully white or off White is available somewhere, I'll ask the guys at my local Ace HW, they are pretty good.
Figure 1 or 2 cans would be plenty if you just painted the chute and maybe also the 'paddles' in the middle of the auger.

I think EZ Slide graphite paint is only avail in black--primarily due to the color of graphite=carbon=black.
Well, one form of carbon isn't black, but it takes green to get that type. But I have discovered if you give your sweetie some unblack carbon, you get permission for more yellow and white iron.

looks like Tractor supply has the EZ Slide graphite and they're not far away-
might try some on the underside of my mower decks too, looks like that is a big application for that stuff.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
