Default Red 782 with front dozer and tiller

Just curious. I'm going to look at a rear lift tomorrow, and the seller has a red 782 with plow and tiller for sale for $600 obo. The body is rusted and beat, seat is shot. He says it runs good. Has loaded rear ags, rear sleeve hitch and a tiller included with gear box. I might post it over in the craigslist ad after I see it tomorrow if I don't splurge and make an offer myself.

I've been following that listing on Craigslist; you're right it looks very beat and would be surprising if it actually runs and drives well. In a couple of the pictures, he has a rear scraper blade on the sleeve hitch but that apparently is not part of the package?

Probably original paint, but it is so far gone polishing won't help, plus the fenders are dented around the tail lights. It is IH built, and looks like the grille emblem is still there. That machine obviously sat outside for many years. Dash may be damaged. Loaded tires could mean badly rusted rims.

$600 seems too high, but depending on actual condition, maybe $400 - 500? (for our area). Hopefully you can make a deal...

I got the rear lift. But I didn't look at the tractor etc. I have too many irons in the fire now to get that 782. He's in Jacobus PA.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
