Need Help With 3240 CC 40th Anniversary Model Issues
Just purchased a 3240 CC with 54" deck, the 3-point hitch attachment and a 42" hydraulic rear tiller with 336 hours. Tractor ran exceptionally well when I checked it out before purchase but while tilling my garden, it wouldn't back itself up a slight incline. Today I tilled a co-workers garden and it again wouldn't hardly back up and now it's barely moving forward. The deck is off and I only have the tiller on it since it will only operate one PTO attachment mid/aft at a time. I checked the trans oil and it's clear and at full level but seems extremely thin. I did make a slight reverse pedal adjustment today before tilling co-workers garden and it moved slightly better but still nothing like my SLT1554 CC with just a 54" deck. Anyone else with this particular model ever have these issues or have a suggestion what may be the issue? I'm going to change the filter and oil and use the CC special oil only for the trans this week once I get them to see if that helps any. Did get a suggestion the filter may be clogged. I checked it out and it is the older CC yellow color and not white like the ones you get now. I appreciate any help anyone can provide. Hoping it's not the pump or trans......

Nice combo, we need pics. The 3k tractors have an issue with reverse speed when the plastic bushings wear on the foot pedal system. Put the linkage back to where it was and operate it. When backing up, reach down and pull up on the forward pedal. If your reverse speed improves then you will need to replace the bushings.....or pull up on the forward pedal everytime you back up.
The hydro filters have not changed from the 70's from Cub Cadet or you can use a Wix 51410 or NAPA 1410. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Will get some pics on soon of the two. My SLT1554 has ag tires on the back and if it bogs down, they just dig their way through. Never had any issues with it not climbing or clawing its way through ruts, culverts or steep banks. best improvement I made to it. May have to put a set on the 3240....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
