Default Trusty 149

Last fall I picked up this 149 off the "list" for $250. It came with a mower deck ( which is junk, anyone in MI want it for parts?) , front blade and chains. Really didn't know alot about the IH tractors till I got this one, mainly bought it to plow snow in the winter, boy did she blow. It was funny, I even had a couple people pull over and watch the ol girl at work. I now have a blower for her ($125 off the "list") can't wait for the snow fly out the shoot! I plan on doing a restore of her over the next cpl years, already done a few things, degrease the motor and trans, new tierod ends, and steering rebuild. Thanks for all the great reading and pics fellas....Chris

Thanks guys, I thought it was a good deal too, it ran great when I got it...Only thing was the guy kept it outside under a tarp for several years while his newer mtd crap was in the garage. O almost forget told him I was looking for a rear tine tiller, he had an old ariens rocket under one of his cedar trees (seized motor), put a 5hp briggs on that and been tilling my garden with it this spring. He threw the tiller in on the deal, almost fell over! I'm so addicted to craigslist!!! Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
