Mower Deck Helper Wheels
Did all mower deck come with the small helper wheels? The 38" deck that was on my 100 did not have them. Just wondering if they were taken off at some time or if they were an option on the deck. Thanks

From the information I have, the 7" Gauge Wheels were standard equipment on the rear of the Mower Deck.

Pretty sure some of the 38s came without them. But I’ll have to look to see where I saw that.

My information came from the IH CPE-2B Parts Manual.

My CPE-2 shows no wheels on 71-74 built decks (38, 42 and 48) and no wheels on 38C, but wheels on everything else.

I can't say for sure, but the Gauge Wheels are talked about in the Owners Manual on Page #6, see link: Owners Manual.

That’s a newer 38c, built after 1981 I’d say. You should be able to find some brackets and wheels to bolt to the back.
Check out the user manual I posted above.

Wheels will work but if you have 8.50 rear tires you will need to move them in board, there should be holes in the deck like this one.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
