70 tires
I'm looking for tires for a new to me 70. Manual says 4.80/4.00x8 and 6x12.
doing some googleing it says 4.8x8 is actually the same size, is this correct? I found Carlisle's for those, but the 6x12's the only thing I can find is ag tires and not turf or trail tires. Previous owner had an absolutely flat yard and the original tires may be fine for that but with my slopes brand new tires on my other machine where an instant upgrade to mowing. |

I will also be needing new tires for my 70. I’m pretty sure those Carlisle’s you found for the front are right. Firestone makes a 6-12 rear tire as linked below, however they are very expensive. Otherwise all that’s available is Ag style ones. Or you could find a good set of used original tires on rims for sale.

6 x 12 rear tires were standard on the 70/100 series Tractors. An optional 8 x 12 was available.

Thanks! Yeah those are rather big price tag, but if they last another 30 years on a tractor I cant really complain, I'm not doing anything rough or hauling anything heavy with them they should last plenty long.
The rims are clean and repainted and the tires have tubes so holding air isn't an issue, they're just cracked and so hard I don't think I will be able to go up hill with them, would have to circle around the yard to take all the steep slopes going downhill. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
