Well,
She needs some work, but what Cub doesn't, I guess. The rearend can be fixed or replaced, the fender pan can be fixed or replaced, the frame can be fixed or replaced, and so on............ The throttle is NLA, so you'd have to take a look at that and see if it's hooked up wrong and why the fuel shutoff's not working. Could be an easy fix. Has the wrong fuel pump, but it works. Whenever the owner throws in an add "rare", they prolly think they have a gold mine. I think he/she is high on price considering all the issues needing to be addressed, but that's my opinion. It is a Super Smoker and 1772's are harder to find, but many have popped up on the market lately. It's also on Epay as well. Good luck and keep us posted and what you decide or if you go and look her over.

Still up in the air on it I still may wait till next year and go from there I have a feeling that it will be around at least a month Or so he seems pretty firm on it. I may have to hold out. For that kinda money id at least want to run it when I got home but there is only one bolt actualy holding the rear in....

Pick this one up, looks to be very decent in shape and the guy will do $1100-$1000 (don't ask how I know).
https://quincy.craigslist.org/grd/4645720669.html Not diesel, but it's the 3 cylinder Kobota gas so still a solid motor.

Only one bolt holding in the rearend! Yep. Just me and maybe I'm lowballing, but I would offer $1000-$1200. Lot of time and work involved in replacing or fixing what's broken. Ride it out and maybe he'll drop his price. Or Ryan's right on the Super he posted about. So did you go take a look at it or call the owner?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
