Default LTX 1045 Hydrostatic won't move

Got my mower out this year for the first mow. Cranks ok.
pushed on the hydro to move and it made sort of groaning sound. It's always made one, but this seemed a little more. I shut it off and there was a spinning sound, maybe for a minute. not the blade.
Cranked it again and now nothing..nada when you push down on the hydro. No moan, nothing. There is a little resistance, but nothing like it feels when you move normally.
Lever is pulled out on back. Nothing leaking underneath. Belt underneath is on the pulley's. Actually, it won't even roll freely with the lever in or out.
anything I'm over looking?
Thanks

You said the lever is pulled out in back? It needs to be in to drive the tractor. Pulled out is how you move it by hand. And "freely" is subject to opinion. My LT 1050 sometimes moves more freely than other times.

SOrry, I meant it's pushed IN and it won't roll freely..at all. Back wheels just locked up.
Thanks for your answer though and a headsup.

Bought it in 09. Don't think so.
What does that sound like when it won't even roll with the pin pulled out? It's like the brakes are locked..or the transmission is totally locked up?

Brakes could be stuck but I doubt it. The brakes are in the area circled in red. My guess is something took a dump inside the tranny. Never worked on one of these so I'm not of much help. Did you buy this from a Cub dealer or a big box store? I can send you the full size pic if you shoot me pm with your e-mail address.

I bought this from Home Depot. I guess I'll end up taking it in to a service center. I have to admit, I've not been really really impressed with my first Cub. I had a Snapper forever and never took it to the shop. This has already been to the shop just after a year for something in the motor, I forget now.
This hydrostat has ALWAYS kinda moaned when you push it down. It's my first hydro so I wasn't sure what was normal, but it made a weird moaning/tight kinda sound, but always picked up after a sec and got on with the business at hand.
Except now...it's not doing nada. No moaning at all.
Again, not much freeplay in that pedal though. Still seems kinda tight.
Thanks for your help.
This sux.

Just my 2 cents but I'd ask how much it's going to cost to fix it before you go to far with it. You may be better off looking at one of the older Cubs to replace it. I stick to the pre 1995 vintage.

OMG, you mean that even possibly a lawnmower I bought FIVE years ago could be damaged that badly?? It barely has any hours on it at all. I'm at work or I'd go look. Just to mow my yard with, no industrial mowing..
I've kept the oil changed, regular maintenance that I think I need to do.

I tell you one thing bud, if that's the case, Cub Cadet will never get any more of my money and will certainly hear from me.
but you've been nice to reply.
Thanks and I'll let you know as soon as I get more info on it.

The problem is that the stuff sold in the big box stores is built to such a low price point that they just don't live. It's not only Cub but JD does the same thing. People think they are buying quality because of the name. I hope you are lucky and it's only something minor. Keep us posted, we'll try to give you what ever help we can.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
