Default CC30 won't move forward or backwards after a period of non use

I have a four-year-old CC30 rear engine rider Model: 13A226JD010 that doesn't want to move forward or backward after letting the clutch out with it in gear after it has been in nonuse for a week. I have tried shifting into forward and reverse and shifting all throughout the six speeds to no avail. It started to bother this summer and is progressively getting more frequent. I have found that by sitting in the seat with the motor running, in gear, the clutch out, and rocking it forwards and backward it will take off. It then will usually continue to work as normal for the rest of the day or even into the next without further problems.

I have contacted the dealer and was told they have never had one of them do this before, but since it was now working again, to wait until it won't move to bring it in so they can diagnose it easier.

Has anyone experienced this before and how was it remedied?

Is it still under warranty? If so I would take it to them asap.

The CC30 had a three (3) warranty on that rider. Looks like it is owner responsibility at this stage.

Perhaps you need to get into the belt drive line and check to see if the tension pulley, clutch linkage or cable is working freely and perhaps maybe some lubrication. Maybe it needs to be clean out of grass debris buildup under there. And also, the existing belt may be worn and needs replacing.

Good luck.

Edit:. I had an additional thought I'd like to add to the possibilities I mentioned above... I was wondering if you have vertical shaft engine, maybe the oil seal on bottom of crank case is leaking a lil oil to the driveline belt or pulley?

You have two belts in your drive system. After 4 years it is not uncommon for them to be stretched and frayed which would cause them to slip. For a dealer to tell you they have "never had one do this before" is total bu!!sh!t.

If you can't get under there and check it out for yourself, I'd look for someone other than those morons.

Here's a link to your drive train drawing....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
