warming up the hydro?
When its 12 degrees outside, does the hydro take about 10 minutes or more of warming up before it goes? Just wondering if thats normal.
Works great after I do that, but for the first ten minutes, it doesn't move forward or reverse. Thanks for all the experienced advice! Carl |

Yep, takes awhile to get that fluid moving. Should allow the engine to warm up slowly for that long anyway at low to mid throttle. Keeps from prematurely wearing out the engine components.

at 12 degrees I would assume any fluid would get thick, and move less freely.
I am in cecil county. how about you? I cant give you the answer you need because all my machines are gear drives. sorry. |

Mine howl a little more when they are cold but they seem to move alright.
But i do let them warm a little before i really start pushing them. |

I suspect that one of my 123's has a little water in the trans/rear end.
When it's really cold it takes as much as 20 minutes for it to move.

When its cold out the 782 will whine some. I let it run at mid throttle for about 10 minutes or so. It'll move fine right away but I like to let it sit and warm up first.

With the cold spell we're having, my 1862 is a little slow out of the gate but is fully functional.

I did my first single digit temp snow blow the other day. And other than cranking REALLY SLOW once it fired up the hydro moved right away.

I don't know what model of tractor you have. I would guess your hydro pump is worn. Your tractor should move as soon as you start it. I live here in Minnesota. My 782 with a snowblower starts up and moves at -10.
If you haven't changed the Hydrolic oil and filter, do that. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
