Some months ago, I seem to remember , that someone fabricated a rock shaft (correct term?) replacement for the cast one, that is getting hard to find, at a reasonable price. I realize that a fabricated one won't be cheap, but could lend itself to custom applications, such as 2 lift arms for modified cat-o, etc. Anyone remember that post? I'm working on the 149. And I just can't help myself. I'm always exploring "better" answers/solutions.

I remember the post. I'll see if I can find it.
I've bought several off Patton. His were reasonable. Or, at least I thought he was. I'm one of the guys who always rants that parts are overpriced. I think I paid around $125 total for all parts (shipping included). |

Several guys on here have built one, I did . I can't remember what plans I used , if I used any. Think I just took ideas from others and made mine. I just measured and built mine. The lift arm that runs to the rockshaft I got measurements from someone on here. Here is a picture of mine.

I'm not sure the post your talking about, but this thread has the dimensions you need for a wide frame rock shaft.

If you break that something more important is coming with it. If you get ambitious you may want to run a couple ears forward to the axle tube bolts like Xtreme offers for the lower hitch they sell.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
