Default New to me 1864

Picked up a nice 1864 from my buddy this weekend.
Needs some usual TLC from a little rust touch up etc but runs great.
This drives just AWESOME.
Will need to get a deck for it before I can mow with it.
Nice decks seem to be hard to find when you need one.

What Sam said! Except, I have one.

I have a 48" GT deck I may part with in a few weeks. Send me a PM if you're interested.

I am sure that you will find one Sam.
This is a really nice tractor.

Can't find the service manuals for this thing anywhere.
Does anyone have a link to the manuals?

The brake does not hold so I need to get that fixed soon and I want
to see what the adjustment knob/bar is on the back.

The adjustment on the back is to set your deck height, it replaced the knob that used to be on the side of the frame. Read the tech tips about the Cyclops.

Thanks guys.

Will check out the link Sam sent.

Don't have a deck for the thing yet, but I have the winter to look for one.
Hopefully I can find a nice 54 in good shape.

I already have a couple of 982's and an 1811 but this thing steers SO NICE... great tractor.

It has been fairly well taken care of, but within the next couple of months I will drain the rear, pull the axles and clean out the tubes etc, just to make sure it is nice and clean inside.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
