Default Greetings from Bama

Hi All,

I finally decided to join up on OCC. I've been reading posts and forums on here for a while and finally decided to join. I've got a 1970 126 that my grandfather gave me and I'm in the process of rebuilding/restoring it now. Got most of it sanding down with a coat of primer. It does have some pitted areas in the sheet metal, especially on the seat pan and foot rest areas. The main problem I am having is with the deck. The pulleys are pretty much seized up and rusted to a point of no return. Any idea on where to get the replacement pulleys? Not sure of model no on the deck, but it is the 42" 3 blade (2 small blades and 1 large in the center). I need all four pulleys (idler and 3 gear pulleys). I've uploaded couple of pics of what it looked like before any work was done.

Welcome to OCC.
You can find the parts to redo the deck, these guys can advise you of lots of suppliers for parts.
Most of the time the pulleys are salvageable if you can get them off the spindles, and some of the spindles can be rebuilt depending on the type you have.
Send some pics . What part of Bama you from? I'm in the northern part of the State.

I'm from St. Clair County. Moody to be exact. I'll get some more pics up very soon. It's a long process going through one if you want to do it right, so I should have PLENTY of pics. Going to get out the bondo and smooth out some pitting in the sheet metal this weekend. In addition to that, I plan on getting the wheels and deck sandblasted soon. Good to know that the pulleys and spindles can be purchased and also that there is a good chance I can salvage them. I'll update you guys sometime this week. Gotta stay out of the garage until this weekend though. It's our anniversay and my wifes birthday this week so play time on the cub is limited. I've seen a lot of wanted ads from around north alabama (Athens/Huntsville) on craigslist for the cubs. Seems to be a lot of activity with them in the area. I actually bought an old 1987 Ford YT16 from a fellow up there and restored it this past spring. Turned out great. I would post pics, but I don't want to dirty up OCC with the old ford blue. I'm afraid I might get kicked out for that! ha
