Operator Station Change to Left Side

Hello,

I have a 582 3 speed and a 682 hydro. I am thinking of moving the steering wheel to the left side of the tractor, maybe also the plastic dash and the transmission control lever so it can be used with a two passenger wide seat for running around tractor shows.

I am thinking where the fender goes over the back wheel - 3/4 of the way in the depth of the fender -- to cut it front to back, including the foot plate and adding in about 6 inches in width on each side. with appropriate underside bracing. Possibly putting spacers to widen rear track and possibly widen front axle.

On the steering box, is there any way to move the steering arm from the left side to the right side so as to better line up with the drag link. Or could I just flip the steering column to put the lever on the right hand side.

I put a wide seat on a 127 but it's kind of awkward steering from the side.

Has anyone ever done this?

Which of the two would be the easiest to do?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Seems like a lot of work and aggravation. I was gonna do anything I'd flip/ switch the brake pedal to the right, buy or build some kind of buddy seat. You can do what you want, it's your tractor. Just my 2cts.

I agree, it sounds like A LOT of work, BUT there have been others who have undertaken huge projects for a finished product that is much less useful that what you're looking for.

If I'm not mistaken, if you turn the steering box around (180 degrees) it will work backwards (turn left will go right).

I believe the project is doable, but It would be something that you would have to really be devoted to, if you ever wanted to get it finished.

Just extend the right side not the left. Make it like a Farmall Cub with cultivision.
I don't know but sounds like a pretty involved project. Good luck

For the steering, put on the electric steering like the new cub garden tractors have, very similar to Atv or snowmobile steering. Steering wheel can go anywhere.

search youtube for some ideas,i have seen some very well done tractors. you could use a chain drive for the steering box to column leaving the box in its original mounting. it will be a bit of work,but if you have the time,materials,and a welder it can be done. best of luck on it

thanks guy's i really want the tractor center lined for wheel track. i found a hydro 127 that i forgot i had ,i don't think there's anything wrong with it . needs some tinkering. i can cut the fenders in the middle, remount with a 12-14" gap and fill in to the inside. most will be under seat. i also have some 7" spacer spools for the back wheels. all i really need to do is move the steering sector to the left enough to clear the brake pedal. i won't need to move the hydro lever as it already points to left. the stock drag link angles from center to left, now it will angle from left to right, may have to put a little bend in it to clear left front tire,on left turn, or modify steering sector arm ball joint attaching point to move to right, to better align with left front wheel arm. if i would widen front axle this wouldn't be an issue. could also trim brake pedal to get steering sector closer to right.

Just buy a damn golf cart, paint it yellow and put a Cub Cadet decal on it.

Yet another cub hacked up into something stupid. Why don't you hack up a car and build a pickup out of it while your at it.

Seems completely rediculous to me to take a cub and turn it into something that is already mass produced, and readily available.
