1862 deck stop cam lock

I have an 1862, when I lower the hydraulically operated deck the cam lock moves, allowing the deck to go lower than I want it, even though it's tightened. What's causing this?

is the lift linkage pinned solid for down pressure ?

I'll have to check. I know when I tighten the cam lock knob as tight as I can get it, and then raise and lower the deck again, if I don't watch closely it will push the can stop and go lower than I want it. This is my niece's mower, she can't have this changing constantly when she raises and lowers the deck.

Is it normal to pin that? You do mean where the adjusting hangers go?

at the end of the hyd. cyl. the lever that connects the lift lever to the cyl. 1 pin is necessary it lets the lever pivot if it has a second pin down about 2 in. from the hyd. cyl. it can't pivot giving down pressure for a blade. also make sure you're rotating the deck stop correctly one way may let the cam rotate when weight is against it

What you can try if the lift linkage isn't pinned, install a 3/8 fine threaded bolt with a flat washer instead of using the knob, can get it alot tighter with a wrench or socket than with the knob. Works for me!

What does it mean to be pinned? As opposed to what other alternative?

When it is "pinned" you have down power,--- say to use with a front dozer blade.
Or rear down power.
Un pinned the lift is free to float but it still has lift power, just no power down.
you don't want down power on a mower deck, just power lift.
Clear as mud?
