Broken Key | New Ignition?
I am the proud new owner of a new to me 1967 Cub 105. Woke up this morning to play and broke the key in the ignition
I see a few options to replace with IH-60736-C3 but $75? Yikes. Any suggestions for how to fix this without breaking the bank? |

Quick update, I'm impressed I was able to get the key out as it was pretty well decomposing inside the tumbler.
With that fixed, any idea where I can source a replacement key? |

They are all the same for that series I believe and did not change until the Quiet Line came out.

IH didn't spend any time or money making unique keys for different models.
The keys are the same on your 105 as on a 124, 125, 122, 123, and many others made in that time frame. It should be available at many Cub Cadet dealers as well as several of sponsors that advertise on this site. Also, it is the same key that is used on a Farmall 300, 350, 400, 450, 460, 560, 660, 706, 806, 656, 756, 856, and many more, so a Case IH dealer should have them also. |

I think you are a little broad in your reply,
m My 782 takes the same key as my 1650 but the my 400 Farmall is a different and my 806 is different from all of them. But a lot of non IH equipment takes Indak made keys. |

I've actually tried the key from my 125 in the various models. Worked in every one. |

Farm tractors have a switches of better quality and longevity unlike Garden tractors/lawnmowers. That said, I doubt a case/Ih dealer would have a key in stock for a 70+ year old farm tractor but will have an Indak style key as they are so very popular. Tractor supply has them with their "will fit switches" as well as most all local lawnmower shops. attached is pix of: Farmall 400 key Farmall 806 key And the 3rd. key that fits most everything Indak makes! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
