882 Diesel "refreshing"
Well I have finally had some time to start working on the 882 this weekend. I have been collecting parts over the last week or so. I have the updated starter (current one has a bad solenoid), a new alternator and voltage regulator (Old regulator no longer working) from xtrememotorworks, and parts for the glow plug upgrade. I have not got too far, mainly just torn down and ready to lift the engine so the old starter can be removed. I bought my 882 locally from a guy that was given it as payment for doing some wok for another guy. From what I can tell it has sat a long time.
I noticed that the battery tray is very rusty, and since I had just finished my electrolysis tank (thread updated as well), I figured it was the perfect time for it to take a bath. I took the one's off the parts donor 1806 a few weeks ago and there was nothing in there but a couple cob webs. wheels looked brand new behind them. Looks like it sat outside for quite a bit and little mouse made himself a big old condo in there to me.

I had more time today after work to make some progress. I got the battery tray painted, jacked up the engine and replaced the starter, along with drilling the hole in the motor mount plate, and resecured the engine to the tractor. Up next will be installing the new alt and regulator, new fuel lines, changing all the fluids, reinstalling the battery tray and then figuring something out with the throttle cable that is broken. Nothing really to take pics of.

I found this the other day, but didn't post it up.
After I took the tunnel cover off the 882 I was inspecting the drive shaft joints and I happened to notice that the hydro input, rear joint, and fan will turn freely independent of the drive shaft. The fan is bolted to something that may be a fluid filled clutch to aid in starting. When I start the tractor the hydro does not turn till it fires up, then it spinning like normal. My question is that I thought that only the later diesels had a disconnect clutch, not the early 782D, 882.
