I recently bought a cat 0 3pt hitch for my 2284 and thought I would do an install thread with some pictures. I know most of you guys aren't into the plastic hood tractors but I thought most of the install would cover several different tractor styles. First, on the Monday before Thanksgiving I ordered a multi configuration category 0 3pt hitch from extrememotorworks. I also ordered the 3pt to Brinly A frame adapter. On Tuesday I received an email confirmation with the tracking number I requested. I used the website and Paypal to pay and the bill was taken out of my account on Wednesday. Delivery would be UPS scheduled for Tuesday November 29th. On the 29th I received a large box weighing 66lbs.
Ok so as of right now I can not get my pictures to upload by any means so as soon as I figure that out. Ill post the ones I have so far

I upload my pictures to photobucket.com a free picture hosting web site. Once they are uploaded you click and copy the IMG code from there and then paste it here in your thread.
Duke has a program that he can send you that helps resize your pictures so that they can be uploaded here onto the website from your computer. I am sure he will post a comment later on with it and some instructions. Looking forward to your thread on this. I think a lot of guys will be interested in seeing it. ![]()

Here is everything unpacked and laying on the garage floor. I was really impressed with the quality of the metal and the welds. The hardware was packed in separate bags and sealed. The metal edges were very smooth cut and the holes were clean.
![]() One thing I was a little disappointed with was the dirty hand prints left on the bare metal. That meant everything had to be thoroughly clean before priming so I wiped all the pieces down with acetone prior to priming. ![]()

After a good cleaning I began priming everything. I am using spray cans because I got a really good deal on Krylon Rustoleum paint when my local Kmart sold out of the Krylon brand.

I turned the heat up in the garage because its cold here and started to add some Cub yellow to the parts. Again here I am using spray cans for several reasons. I had several cans in stock from a previous project and I just purchased new spray guns this week and haven't taken to time to set them up. I used Valspar from Tractor Supply. My long term plan will be to repaint the whole tractor with high grade paint using my guns but that's a while down the road. The yellow looks different in the pictures but it actually matches the factory color on the 2284 ok.

Everything is looking great! Sorry you were disappointed with the dirty hand prints but most of the time bare metal gets an oil treatment to prevent rust and you probably would have cleaned everything to begin with. Prep is the key to a quality paint job. Keep up the great work and please more pics!

Still painting so not much new other than adding more coats. I did go ahead and start the dis-assembly process on the tractor.
Here is what I started with. 2284 rear end ![]() First I removed the plastic center channel cover to reveal the area were I need to remove the height adjuster and eventually install the lift bar. ![]() After unthreading the adjustment shaft and removing 4 bolts the rear cover is off. ![]()

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
