Default Finally got the 1450 hydro right!

I had replaced everything in the hydro linkage that was recommended here. I still had the slow down uphill & speed up downhiil problem. THEN, I got my tiller. Not being able to hold a steady speed tilling is a royal pain. I went thru every post here that mentioned hydros. I found a post that said "everything must be tight". I removed the fender pan and mine wasn't. A trip to Sears Hardware for shims and wave washers cured the problem. Now to find another garden to till! Never, never, never give up!

Do you have the member or direct link to the thread you are referring too? I have a 1650 and a 882 with lots of slop. I press the brake and the thing moves forward. To get to neutral, the hyrdo control actually has to be in reverse.

Go to the tractor tec. portion of the site and down load the service manual, it's all in there.

It's a Sears hardware store, not a regular Sears store. They have 2 size shims in 9/16 & 5/8. I bought 2 of each and 4 of both size wave washers. I think the 9/16s were 61 cents each & the 5/8s were 81 cents each.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
