There is a guy on craigslist that has a 682 for sale with no motor for $600. He said he will go down to $400 but I know I will have to put in a lot of time and money into her to get it going so I was wondering if I could get some advice from fellow members.

No motor for $400 yikes to high for me but look for a sears 6000 GT and repower it with a mag 18. I got my sears for $200 and Adam sold the roller for $100 for me.

I agree 400 seems abit high. Personally I probably would go maybe 200 depending on the condition of it and the deck. Around here (ohio) it seems people want some good $$ for a replacement motor. So i'd figure another couple hundred on a good engine plus your time getting it in and running. But good luck with whatever you decide. Always wanted a red head

Im thinking I could put in a K series motor like Plowboy1086, but $400 would be a okay deal if the motor was in it.

Yeah 400 is too much for an no engine. I wouldn't give more than $250.

Maybe $200, but it would have to have the driveshaft too at that price. You can throw a lot money in something buying all the little things.
By the picture, I would say its not in that great of shape either. Randy

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
