1450 opinions
I found a complete non running 1450 that I'm thinking about trading for. The guy wants my Troy Bilt horse tiller and trade straight up. His asking price for the 1450 is $425 and I have about $300 in the tiller(he doesn't know that). The 1450 has everything in place including the side panels but it is non running. The tiller has two new tires, a new battery, and new carb. I had been asking $500 and with some more time and paint could get $700 next spring.I've owned the tiller three times and made money every time I sold it but I'm getting tired of looking at it,
 Any opinions on the 1450 about things to look out for? Any opinions on the trade? I don't *need* another project but thought about this as a project for me and my youngest son next winter. Gee after rereading that I realize I sound like I'm addicted to these Cub's or something. I'm rationalizing my cub purchases now

A 1450 for a tiller is a great deal IMO. You could always add a tiller to the 1450 and have 1) another tiller and 2) a tractor to be used for other things besides tilling.

I like my 1450, but I put about $1000 into it to get it back in good shape and looking right. And I didn't even overhaul the engine.

I always expect the worst for something that does not run. If you do get it running , you never know what problems will show up.
If you were looking to buy it straight out , $425 would be high in my area for a non-running Cub. Other things would make a difference on the price , nice looking paint , tires in good shape , deck size , if it has a lift on it , etc... The 1450 is a workhorse and a good tractor to have , but since it doesn't run just be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. That is the way i look at anything that does not run.

I'm with Darrell. non running is a complete gamble. value it at what you can see is good. engine and hydro can't be counted on.
