Does anyone know the spec's for the hydraulic ram for a 42" blade? I am looking to use a heavy duty electric linear actuator to make a power angle setup. I am waiting for the postman to deliver the OEM power angle mounting brackets. I would like to know the compressed and extended lengths of the hydraulic ram as well as the mounting eye hole diameters.
Has anyone tried this? I would love to add a hydraulic pup and lift setup to my 127. Alas, I can't find one anywhere. Any ideas on sources? I look constantly at the parts vendors listed on the site as well a E-bay. I saw an old post looking for the same info. Nobody responded. Regards, Mike |

According to an add that was on eBay, the extended length is 21.5" and retracted length is 15.5" so it's a 6" stroke.

Mike,
You can replace your non ported hydro pump with a ported pump from a wide frame/quiet line Cub. You may have to do some fabrication to make the the spool valve, hydraulic cylinder, and lever to work on your cub. You wll need a dual spool valve to lift and control the blade angle on your blade. There has been a few narrow frame hydro Cubs with a single spool valve at plow days. The factory hydraulic system for a narow frame cub has only a single valve set up in it. |

You will not be happy with the speed of a linear actuator and the cost of them will scare you. You would be best off buying the real thing. I have one forsale.

Will a linear actuator take the abuse ? These Cubs push hard and don't stop when you hit something. Watch your local paper for a cheap tractor, mower or whatever with hydraulic lift then you get a cylinder and valve and sometimes a pump, this is what I came up with for $100.00, valve with float and a 1" cylinder with a 4" stroke, plus a whole tractor to part out (a red horsey tractor) I was lucky enough to have a pump laying around, my hydro pump runs the lift and the add on pump runs the angle.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
