Default Snow thrower 193-353-100 (H-42) Driveshaft

My 30-yr old snow thrower's u-joint came apart. I'm having difficulty in locating a replacement. Any suggestions on where to get one? The part number may be 1254-783-C1.
Thank You!

Default Driveshaft

Try a farm parts, or machine shop for Weasler series 6, there cross may work. Take the yoke with so it can be measured.

Thanks Jkainz. I've tried CC dealers and TSC, but your suggestion may be the answer. I'll let you know if I have success with that.

Until I can locate a replacement I went with a modification to the original. Local auto parts store tapped and installed 1/2-inch bolts. In between the yokes was a cube with holes where pins wore loose and dropped out. Sorry, I neglected to take photo before re-assembly.

Are there bushings around the bolt shanks to take up the play? If not, it's going to beat itself to death in short order. ( as in catastrophic failure )

What he said! That is going to destroy the yoke and it may come out and hurt something or someone.

Ok. Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to keep looking for the correct part. It can never be easy with these. I'm really surprised these u-joints are not more available. Thanks again guys!

Look for a shop that services Spicer drivelines. Take them the complete shaft and I'm sure they can fix you up.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
