Default 2082 possible pickup

I went today to go pick up some parts for my 782. Guy had a nice 1512 diesel cub out front his house which grabbed my attention. We got to chatting and he said that he has a 2082 that he wants to sell. I get to look at it. It is in good shape. Faded paint but not chipped like cyclops do. Has front bumper, front hydraulics, 3pt and rear PTO. He also has a near mint 3pt tiller for it and a 50c deck for it in decent shape. He said the mag 20 runs but smokes. He wants $2000 for the package....what do you all think? It'd be the most I ever paid for a cub. But when I say the tiller is near mint....it still has paint on the tines.

Thoughts? He said its not going to be advertised unless I don't want it. What's your guys's thoughts?

Thumbs up

Shaner, The only advice I can offer, is that if it runs and smokes and you got it, now would be a great time to re-build the engine. At least this way, you know you have a running engine before something internal happens.

Price wise, jump on it! These cheap rip-off crap they sell today starts at 15 to 18 hundred. Good luck.

Shaner,
When you start pricing out the options, I don't think you'll get hurt one bit.
Three point=$400
Rear PTO=$400+
Cat 0 Tiller=$700+(Prolly higher if as nice as you say)
So you're at $1500 in extras at the low end with a $500 tractor that runs, so the price doesn't sound bad at all. Plus there's the front bumper and front hydraulics. Good luck and keep us posted on if ya snag it or not.

The Magnums are pricey to rebuild! Repower it that would make a nice setup. Where does this guy live?...

Going to be putting a down payment on this tractor in the next few weeks. I'm thinking of getting everything, swapping three point and PTO onto my 2072, fix up the 2082 and sell it to recoup my money. But...as what happened with the 2072...I'll prolly fall in love with it after the first test lap around the yard.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
