This k241 in a 104 I just bought has bolts holding the head down whereas my k301 in my 129 has studs. Should the k241 have studs? I know on the race cars we always did studs.

I don't think it matters, I have two 125's with the K301 engine. One has all bolts, the other has 5 studs and 4 bolts. I also have a 105 with a K241 that has all bolts.

Unless your building the motor up for pulling, it makes no difference. Some have more studs than others. Bolts will hold fine. If they are the factory stud type, the threads are the same coarse thread on the studs and the bolts.... so no benefit.

On Narrow Frame models, I'm pretty sure they used studs in the three holes that hold the gas tank bracket on, and one in the hole where the lifting bracket goes, the rest were bolts.

That was one reason I was asking, Mark-it seems like a PITA to remove the tank. Lifting bracket is AWOL.

On the 125 I have, there are studs in the three holes that hold the gas tank bracket on and two studs that hold the heat shield for the muffler.
