Is the oil full? Did you change it recently? What about the filter? Is the release valve pulled up?

I'm parting out an 1863. I think it probably uses the same hydro pump as the 1641, but I'm not for sure. If you can use it, PM me and maybe I can help you out.

look at parts 20, 21 and 22 on the Parts Tree blowup of the hydro. That is the relief valve that the knob on the trans cover pulls against. I just scrapped out a 1641 tractor that wouldn't pull itself. That valve looked like it was depressed and wouldn't come back up. This was after the tractor was picked up my a fork lift.

I don't know why I can't post the image but it doesn't work and I'm out of time.

May not apply here but worth a look.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
