I was at a buddys house tonight and of course we were talking about cubs. He has a 149 hydro in his shop right now with a lift and a brinly sleeve hitch attacthment on it. I brought up that i needed a lift for my 882 and he told me that one on the 149 would not work with my 882 and that i needed to find an 82 series lift.
I am a little confused here. I thought all the wide frames were the same. So my question is, why wont the lift on the 149 work on my 882. Or am I in the dark and there are 3 style frames with the cubs. Narrow, Wide, and 82 series frames? A little help would be much appreciated

The IH 3-point will not work on a diesel because the fuel tank is where the cast piece would need to go. You need a Cat-0 3-point.

Dave:
Your Buddy is correct. The 882 was a CCC built product. It had an Aluminum Rear End. The Sleeve Hitch on the 149 was designed for the Cast Iron Rear End of the IH built Cubs. Thus, the Sleeve Hicth from the 149 will NOT work for the 882. There are two solutions for installing a Sleeve Hitch on your 882. (A) Custom fabricate a beefed up bracket, or (B) Obtain the following Adapter Packages.....for the 882, one would use 190-389 ![]() ![]()

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
