Hi: I have a Cub Cadet 105 with a 10h Kohler engine. I have done a valve adjustment on it 3 weeks ago and last year gave it a new head gasket. The engine was running fine until recently. I was using it and it started to back fire A LOT. It wasn't a progressively bad thing, it just kinda started one day. It starts really good all the time but back fires and looses power a lot flames come out the exhaust. It's 10 degrees in Minnesota right, now could the temp be something? I'm thinking maybe a bad spark plug.

im thinking probably not the condenser because i replaced it recently but after it back fires i can only run on full choke is there a reason for that?

if choking it helps then it must be a fuel problem, choking would have no effect on an electrical problem.

Yes, the fuel is plugged and it's running lean. This will also cause a backfire. Pull the carb and clean it. Drain the tank, flush the lines and replace any necessary parts.
