Default Started on the 1211

I started work on the 1211 today, since it was in the shop and would not start. Found the problem. The carb is nasty. So I thought I would just get one of the aftermarket ones of ebay. Now for the question. Which one. Has anybody for one that will work on a 1211? Mine is before serial number 1724400013 and the part number from Cub is 47-053-62. Just thought I would ask since it has been a slow day here. Thanks all.

not sure which carb you need, but those are nice running machines.
I pulled a 1210 out of a shed recently that had been sitting 15 years, cleaned out the gas tank, put a battery in it, and mowed some grass! too bad the engine knocks some when running at more than an idle.

I found a crossover sheet and it appears I need a 47-853-86.

They are nice. When I bought this one, it would only run with the choke all the way out, so I knew it needed some carb work.

Why wouldn't you just fix the carb you have?

Why is everyone so set on buying cheap China carbs??

I knew you were going to say that. My answer is time. I can still fix it, I am not going to throw it away.

Time. Oh. You don't have 30 min? But you have "time" to wait on them to ship you one. That totally makes sense.

Takes you 30 minutes, takes folks that do not do this everyday, longer than 30 minutes. So when there so much rust in the hole that the main jet plug will not come out, you can get that out in 30 minutes?

Yes, I can get the rust out in 30 min.

You can't get it out in 3 days?

so you are going to work on it for 3 days. I am not, my time is worth more than that. Never mind you are right and I am wrong as always. I am done with this. Close the tread, delete it, I do not care.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
