Default Air filter for k301 engine.
I ordered a air filter to add on to my list of things I need to get my k301 up to date. Ebay stated k301 among other engines. Did I get sent a wrong filter?

There were "Many" version of the K301. When ordering Kohler Parts, it is wise to order the correct parts for the particular "Spec" number you are working on, so you get the right parts.

Kohler k301 filter is 6 inches outside diameter and 2 inches thick without the foam.

The Model/Serial Tag has the Model, Serial, and Spec numbers. See attached image. Also go to the TP-2379 Service Manual (located in Tech Library Section) and look at page #1.3 for further engine data.

When ordering parts, it is "wise" to know and have these numbers, BEFORE you order parts.
