I just picked up a 1535. Has a 3 speed with creeper. PO said he just reglued the flywheel magnets and it still has no spark. Hoping he just glued them out of sequence and it will be an easy fix. Has a Kohler Magnum 15 (derated M18) It's in really good shape with low hours. Should be a fun tractor.

Flywheel magnets have nothing to do with spark. The Mag has a magneto ignition, it fires both cylinders at the same time. You have one of two problems, a bad mag or a problem with the kill circuit.

Good to know. Hopefully it's in the kill circuit. If not, I have a good mag from a 1420 that I can try.

Nice score! I picked one up last year that needed a throw out bearing. I got it most of the way back together but got sidetracked by work and kids. I wish mine was as nice as yours!

I'd also check to make sure that the PO gapped the magneto properly.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
