Default Hello all

Hi everyone, my name is Colby. I am from Minnesota, the Twin cities area.

I had a couple of questions.. Rare I guess.. But I've just become the owner of not one.. But two cub cadets.. One is a series 2,000 (2146) the hours on this one are 1244. The other one is an series 1,000 (lt 1042) with just over 202 hours. I mentioned that I had purchased two mowers to my sister, and now she wants to buy one from me.. Which one do I keep? Also would a bagger be interchangeable between these two models?

Even with the amount of hours on it? 1244 vs the 200. I know the 2,000 series are suppose to be more heavy duty.. I noticed when I engaged the pro on the 2146 it took a few seconds before it engaged.. Is that normal?

The LT1042 was more than likely purchased at home depot.. The big box stores do not sell the 2000 series.

Check to see that everything on the deck turns freely and grease spindles either way. Check that the belt has correct tension. If its still slow to start I would then check the air cap on PTO.

Edit: I had a 1046 with courage engine that I serviced regularly "im a mechanic last 30 years" Engine block cracked at 120 hours.

I just talked to the guy today who I was buying the lawn mowers from.. Yesterday when looking at the 1042 it killed then wouldn't start back up.. We thought it was the battery... He took the battery in had it checked it was fine. He's hearing a click click click.. Thinking it's the starter now.. Thinking I should maybe I should just get the 2146 now?

I was under the impression that you already owned both..

"Rare I guess.. But I've just become the owner of not one.. But two cub cadets"

Had I known you didnt own them yet my advice would have been to not buy either

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
