why does my 122 internatioal cub cadet die when i unhook the Jumper cables. I have had the alternator rebuilt?

You likely lost power to the coil when you removed the jumpers. Do you even have a battery in that tractor? A good one?

Completely agree. It requires electric power from the battery to run. If it was a magneto, it would work but it's not.

With a completely dead battery (or no battery), once you remove the jumper cables, the voltage regulator de-energizes and the voltage produced by the generator does not reach the rest of the system to give ignition to the engine.
