Default Greetings from Gosh Durn North Carolina

Well met fellow travelers,

My name is Craig, I just picked up a 149. First Tractor, and already feel like I own two jeeps(If you own one you know what I mean). So far a lot of fun just tinkering with it. I've gotten a carriage, wide mule drive and a 50c deck that needs attachment so feel expect to many questions.

Heres a picture of my old boy and Bucko

Your 50C deck will not work on a 149 as the 149 has a PTO w/a 3/8" pulley to match the 3/8" pullies used on the 44A and 50A decks.
The 44C and 50C decks use a 5/8" belt.

I wish you were closer as I could use a 50C deck and could swap w/you!

I was under the impression the wide mule drive would fit right up. well, the 400 mile road trip was nice nonetheless.

The wide frame mule drive probably will but the pullies are probably 5/8" as well for the 50C deck.

Did the seller tell you it would fit?

Well, that is a possibility.
Make sure you get the correct diameter pullies though.
I believe the A decks used smaller ones.

Ive got several projects going on right now, to the point my wife has noticed outback. That being said, im a couple of weeks I plan on replacing all the pulleys anyway. With this insight I'll make sure they all are of the same size, perferably 5/8" from the deck to the PTO.

Your PTO is the smaller 3/8" pulley.
You can't drive a C deck (5/8" pulley) with a 149 3/8" mechanical PTO which your 149 came equipped with.
Post some pictures of that mule drive, both ends, It may not even work even if you do swap to 3/8" pulleys.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
