Default Creeper Gear not "slowing down" machine

Got my creeper gear installed on my 126 and it doesn't see to be reducing my speed. When I installed the creeper I had the entire rear end off the machine and when I spun it the hubs spun at a reduced speed as it should have. Now that it's on the machine it doesn't seem to do that. I don't believe anything has broken(didn't hear any abnormal noises that would make me think something broke)

Any suggestions?

Does the selector have full range of motion?

I installed an aluminum creeper gear on my 128 once and all I had was high speed and neutral.

It does, I can pull it the whole way back and push it forward the whole way, it seems to be the same speed

Wondering if you just bought it and installed it or did you
go through the internals? Making sure there was nothing
suspicious on the inside. How exactly are you shifting from
high to low? Are you at a stop with RPM's at idle?
I'm curious. If you put it in high it drives in high, correct?
If you stop the tractor and turn it off, shift to low, does it then
move in high gear?

I did look the part over when I got it and with my limited knowledge it seemed okay. It’s actually working relatively fine right now, I did notice a very slight drip from the front so I’m assuming the seal or o ring is bad. That said, it does want to pop out of low though.

Glad to hear it is working somewhat. I would crawl underneath
and shift it back a forth and make sure nothing has gone weird with
the shifter itself. Make sure pin and all is still in place.
'Does it settle into the indent for high and low when you shift?

Will do, and yes it does settle into the appropriate indent, but pops out shortly. If I drive while holding it in low it does not seem to want to fight me and pop out. No troubles with high though.

it has been some time since i rebuilt a creeper. I believe the yoke and the shift collar are both asymmetric. if they were installed backward I believe they will not fully engage in one of the settings Hi or Low. I dont recall there being a neutral on these. I would think "neutral" is a mid position not an actual designed selection position.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
