Default LTX 1040 belt/blade issue

I had my tractor serviced at a local shop for a tune up like I do every year. They put a new belt on the deck that drives the blades and now I have 2 problems . . .1. the belt keeps popping off and I can not figure out why, it was good for 2 total lawn cuts about 1 hour per cut. myself and a buddy took the deck off to take a look and out the belt back on, still pops off. why does the belt keep popping, what i am missing/doing wrong?

2. Now the blades are out of sync and will hit each other when spinning . . .is there some sort of timing adjustment for the blades???

any help would be great . . .thanks

Chris

Sounds like I'd take it back and ask em what they did wrong. I wouldn't think that is a timed deck (I could be wrong) so maybe they put tonlarge of blades and wrong belt on

I don't think they put the wrong blades on, because I cut the lawn with it twice after they serviced it...after the belt popped off for the second time I started having issues with the blades???

Do you have both of the spindle covers installed? I have a 2009 and never had a problem till one of the covers cracked a eventually just feel off. Then just a small twig would pop that sucker. I finally replaced the cover and went through last season without problems.

Just a thought.

There is a tsb on that deck, there is a small retainer that is retrofit on the deck, ask your dealer. Also look for cracked flat washers on the deck, feel free to email me

SAME THING!!!

Holy cow I was just going to ask for some help with my 1042 here and wouldn't you know it one of the first posts is about the same issue. The belt continues to fall off this thing I get a few cuts then BAMMM the belt comes off again. So people are saying there is a recall or something? I'll have to contact my dealer to see what's up but wanted to ask around. I did find this YouTube link of a guy that seems to have fixed his. What do you think?

Default I hope I can help you

Hi there. I cussed my 2009 LTX 1040 many many times because of the timed deck issue. I finally narrowed the problem down to 2 things. Biggest problem was that one of the shoulder spacers was cracked in half. Its part #10 on the scematic.

http://www.cubcadet.com/webapp/wcs/s...A/769045870028

Part10 738-04162A Shoulder Spacer, .884 x .190 (These break frequently)

And there is a small retrofit kit that helps its 759-04229-$6.37

I also had to replace part 20 783-05802-0637 Bracket, Idler
and also part 13 783-06176-0637 Idler Brace Bracket
Those 2 Brackets were bent, from what I dont know.
If you need a PDF of the parts scematic let me know. Good Luck
BTW if you put in code "chatwithus" at checkout you get %10 off.
Got my parts in 3 days.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
